8.8.2010 - Vesa Hirvonen tried rallycross and enjoyed the experience
Flying Finn Vesa Hirvonen was satisfied for the experience he gained from Finnish national rally cross event. The event, which was held in near his home town, was first rally cross event ever for Hirvonen.
Before the event Hirvonen was able to have a short test before entering the event with very powerful RWD Volvo S40 rental car.
In first start rounds drivers made their way to the finals. Hirvonen won one start round and was second in an other. Third start round wasn't as successful as he had hoped for and therefore he had to seek speed from B-finals.
In final round Hirvonen wasn't able to improve his position due engine problem which took speed from him. Even Hirvonen was 3rd fastest in B-finals, he was 7th fastest in overall classifications in his first-ever rally cross event.
- I was very surprised for my speed as I was able to drive good positions in start round with such low experience as I have from this motorsport level. I had some serious fun and therefore I think this wasn't a one-time experience, told smiling Hirvonen.
- This was a very motivating race for me. I learned a lot and received lots of valuable tips and tricks from people who have been long time in this business, Hirvonen continued.
