
Vesa Hirvonen was born at 1985. At age of 15 he took his first motorsport steps at rallycross in year 2000. He entered his first ever motorsport event with his friends rental Volkswagen Golf car and the result was 4th highest trophy - Immediately he sold his soul to motorsport.
Vesa made a career in rally cross until season 2002. Then he old enough to participate into rally sprint and its' youngsters class. In that moment he rejected rally cross and started a career of a rally driver with Lada 2105 rally car.
Vesa rallied promising results in season 2002 and celebrated his 18th birthday with driving licence and new Opel Astra GSi rally car. In season 2003 Vesa entered his first-ever rally at Valkeakoski and finished it as third fastest b-junior. His first-ever victory happened at the end of the season 2003 in rally of Suopunki. This result was very significant for Vesa as the victory happened in his third-ever rally.
In season 2004 Vesa improved his speed and received experiences in rally and rallycross. In rally he entered to a serie of Finnish Rally Championship for juniors and drove selected other rally events. Season was full of misfortune but still he was fastest junior in rally of Iisalmi and rally of Koilis-Savo.
Season 2005 started from the point the previous ended. Vesa improved his speed by rallying as A-junior with Opel Astra GSi in Finnish Rally Championship events. At summer 2005 Vesa changed his Opel Astra rallycar to 4wd and turbocharged Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutution VI rally car. New and highly interesting rally world was ahead of him. Eventually after the season 2005 Hirvonen was fastest A-junior in rally of Iisalmi, rally of Joensuu and rally of Iso-Syöte.
Season 2006 was the first season for Vesa with the fastest Finnish rally drivers as he rallied in its' toughest group-N. Season didn't start as expected due technical difficulties and offs. Due truth of the very challenging group-N in Finland and its' high costs forced Hirvonen to transfer Mitsubishi into FWD and less expensive group-n Honda Civic Type-R. Hirvonen scored group victory from his debut rally with Honda.
One season with Mitsubishi improved well the speed of Hirvonen. In season 2007 Vesa gained group-n 2nd position in SM Peurunkarally and group-n 3rd position in season finale at SM Vaakuna rally. These results gave faith for the season 2008 as he made his debut in Finnish Rally Championship series and gained success by winning silver medal.
Season 2008 is long to be remembered as a brakethru season for Vesa Hirvonen to group of top Finnish drivers. Excellent season was rewarded to Finnish Rally Championship silver medal.
For season 2009 Vesa and his Hirvonen Rally Racing background team started with high expectations. Team build new FIN-R -spec Honda Civic Type-R and kept dreaming of brighter medals. Despite hard push and hopes to gain success in season 2009, eventually it all went wrong. In first quarter of the season Hirvonen Rally Racing tackled with technical difficulties and after several retirement Vesa made a decision to quit rallying in Finnish Rally Championship series.
